 FOX

Jess and the gang will be back for another round of laughter, romance and mayhem as "New Girl" is picked up for another season. Undoubtedly, the comedy series, which premiered back in September 2011, has easily become a household favorite.

"Four seasons in, New Girl continues to be one of the smartest and most relatable comedies on television," Fox entertainment president David Madden said in a statement.

"The writing is razor-sharp, the ensemble is consistently hilarious, and we couldn't be more proud of... the entire New Girl team. We absolutely love this show and we're so excited to bring it back for Season Five," he then went on to say.

According to TV Line, the production team did not take a break even after season 4 of the show was wrapped up. Filming for season 5 was immediately started in time for lead star Zooey Deschanel's maternity leave. Her pregnancy will not be included in the series.

Meanwhile, there are already reports about the guest stars in the new season of "New Girl." First is "Royal Pains" actress Anna George, who is set to play as CeCe's mother Priyanka Parikh in an unknown episode in season 5.

Also, the bubbly, well-liked protagonist will also get a new love interest with "SNL" star Taran Killam playing as Fred, who has the unbelievably amazing parents played by Henry Winkler and Julie Haggerty.

While season 5 is still waiting in the pipeline, viewers can first keeps their eyes peeled for the new episode of "New Girl" titled "Par 5" and watch Vice Principal Fawn fall inside a sand trap as he tries to impress Jess during a golf tournament (well, there goes a good first impression).

"Par 5" will be airing on Apr. 7.

"New Girl" season 5 will likely air in September this year.
