The announcement of a new "Need For Speed" game electrified gamers and lovers of the franchise. Upon the mention of the development of an all new racer for the long-running video game series, fans wondered what subtitle it would go for — "Underground" or "Most Wanted." The answer is neither.
The new game is simply titled "Need For Speed" because it is a reboot of the game. As opposed to the common inference, the title won't be a follow up to the "Underground" series, which players want to see revamped, and instead will serve as a new, modern take on the original.
However, while it won't be "Underground 3" like players hoped for, the new racer has borrowed aspects from this hit game lineup. The installment is still open-world and police cars remain vital in the game, but although gamers are likely to see little street racing culture, they can expect more control on the roadster's insides.
"Having a gripping narrative, a storyline that pulls you through the game, where you really care about your car because we give you so many elements of tweaking it, building it and making it your own," explained developer Ghost Games. "And where we set you in an open with lots of variety. It's trying to build a game that's defining the core pillars of what we think Need for Speed is."

The "Need For Speed" reboot is being built upon the same version of Frostbite Engine that "Star Wars Battlefront" uses. No date has been marked for its release but it is expected to come out in September.
