'NCIS' season 12 finale; 'NCIS' season 13 premiere date still unknown

"NCIS" season 12 is down to its last three episodes and the showrunners are taking a different approach in concluding this season: the final three episodes have a common theme. The upcoming installment is titled "Troll" and the next one is "The Lost Boys." The story then wraps up in the finale episode titled "Neverland."

In "Troll," the team solves the murder of an employee working at the Office of the Naval Intelligence. They seek the help of a special agent and cyber operations officer as the murder is linked to cybercrime.

In "The Lost Boys," the hunt for the international terrorist group The Calling becomes a global effort. The NCIS obtains evidence that this criminal group is recruiting children through the Internet and also purchasing S-bombs from the black market.

In the finale episode, the team continues to hunt down the terrorist group. However, someone from the team dies, which makes for an emotional season 12 ending.

CBS won't say anything about who will die in the episode, but the contract renewals from Deadline's report should drop a big hint as to who will survive the finale. Michael Weatherly will definitely make it as he signed on for season 12 and 13.

"I am thrilled for the opportunity to continue playing Very Special Agent Tony DiNozzo on NCIS for seasons 12 and 13," he said after renewing his contract.

The other cast members who also renewed their contracts are Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, David McCallum, and Rocky Carroll.

Meanwhile, showcreator Gary Glasberg made sure that the season 12 finale will be different from season 11's.

"I think I'm going to try and rattle people a little bit!" he said; thus, fans should expect an unusual ending for the season.

"Troll" and "The Lost Boys" will air on April 28 and May 5, respectively. "Neverland" will air on May 12.

At the moment, there is still no premiere date for "NCIS" season 13.
