Fans of one of the most popular shows ever produced by the NBC network, "The Office," should be excited about its upcoming revival that is currently scheduled to air some time in 2018. The news is reported by multiple media outlets, which only confirms fans' initial doubts regarding the announcement. At this point, very little has been revealed regarding who will be part of the show's return, as well as the exact release date.

According to reports, "The Office" will be scheduled to do a "limited run," which means that not the entire ensemble of the original cast will be present when it airs in 2018, and there is a good chance that the number of episodes that will be released will be fewer compared to what is expected from a full season.

The revival of the show should not come as a surprise to fans either, especially since NBC's chairman of Entertainment Bob Greenblatt has hinted in the past about possible revivals not just for "The Office," but for "30 Rock" as well. Both of these shows are multiaward Emmy winning shows that the network has produced.

According to TV Line, "The Office" revival will be running for 2018-2019 with a variety of both old and new cast members. As previously mentioned, details regarding the show have not yet been confirmed, since NBC has been adamantly declining to comment regarding this exciting news.

However, other sources report that Carrell might not be reprising his role of Michael Scott for the revival after all. If this is true, then it would just give credence to Carrell's dwindling interest in the show, which was already speculated since he left after the seventh season with NBC trying to reboot it after that.

"The Office" is considered to be the pioneer of the fake realitiy television situational comedy format since it aired in 2005. One other popular show that has emulated its style is "Modern Family," which is produced by ABC network.
