NBA trade rumors: Cavaliers can benefit from DeAndre Jordan trade

The National Basketball Association (NBA) trade deadline is coming closer, and with a few weeks left, sports analysts and fans alike have been voicing out their opinions on which trades make the most sense for particular teams. Specifically, the speculation that it would be in the best interest of the Cleveland Cavaliers to acquire the current center for the Los Angeles Clippers, DeAndre Jordan.

It is already quite clear that after their former star point guard Chris Paul left the team, the Los Angeles Clippers have been struggling to contend as a high-calibre championship team. Hence, perhaps it would be best for them to go on rebuilding mode as early as now. If they plan on doing so, they would have to acquire some veterans to aid their younger players, while securing draft picks for the next NBA season.

The Cavaliers have an unprotected first round pick that they may use as leverage in acquiring Jordan, if necessary. Although the Cavaliers have the best player in the world in LeBron James, and a very deep bench, Jordan would definitely provide an explosiveness that the team currently lacks, as well as a dominant presence defensively -- specifically, under the rim. If this trade happens, Jordan could be the key for the Cavaliers to win another title.

However, it is possible that they would have to give up Tristan Thompson and shooting power forward Channing Frye, including their first round draft pick in order to acquire Jordan, as well as Lou Williams. It is notable to mention that the Portland Trailblazers have expressed their desire in getting Jordan as part of their roster. At this point, no offer has been made, but with the trade deadline coming, that might change soon.

Although the rumors of the Cavaliers planning to get Jordan have been rampant since the start of the season, they have not publicly expressed any interest in the Clippers' starting center.
