NBA Rumors: Will Jeff Hornacek coach Iowa State?

 Wikipedia

Jeff Hornacek has so far done wonders with the Phoenix Suns but the consensus right now is would he be keeping his post for long.

Despite dealing with a rag-tag team, Hornacek has impressively kept the heads of the Phoenix Suns franchise above water. He almost led the Suns to the NBA playoffs during his rookie year as head coach in 2013 and managed to help the Suns finish 10th last season.

But are the Suns satisfied with this mileage?

Seeing how winning is not everything these days in the NBA, there is a chance that Hornacek could follow the plight of other coaches who have been unceremoniously booted out despite impressive performances for their ballclubs.

The people that come into mind are Scott Brooks (formerly of the OKC Thunder) and Tom Thibodeau (formerly of the Chicago Bulls).

Both have different stories however.

Brooks was replaced since the Thunder wanted more than just making the playoffs. The Thunder did fail to advance this year but it is apparent that the Thunder have set their eyes on a bigger prize – the NBA title.

Thibodeau's case is different. He has had his issues with management and despite leading the Bulls to the playoffs each year, he got the boot just recently.

Given that Brooks and Thibodeau have garnered more success, where does this leave Hornacek? He has yet to bring the Suns to the playoffs and like most teams, change could come at any time.

Hornacek did say before that it would be an honor for him to coach the Cyclones though his focus right now is to help the Suns get back on track. But there is a time element in play and such could come at a time when Hornacek least expects it.

So should he make the jump to the NCAA and bring his act there?

Such could be an option and Hornacek could be a good fit. However, there is only one person that can answer that – Jeff Hornacek.
