'NBA 2K16' release news: New Gamestop details hint at 'most authentic NBA gaming experience yet'

There aren't much official details about "NBA 2K16" except that game company 2K Sports intends to release the latest iteration of the basketball simulation by fall this year. The title, nonetheless, already has a dedicated listing on Gamestop, which provides details on what the game will be all about. It reads:

The NBA 2K franchise is back with the most true-to-life NBA experience to date with NBA 2K16. Guide your MyPLAYER through the complete NBA journey, take control of an entire NBA franchise, or hone your skills online competing against gamers from around the world. With animations that provide smoother movement and more realistic articulation, it's certain to be the most authentic NBA gaming experience yet."

What this description means is that "NBA 2K16" will be the best in its franchise, with 2K Sports innovating the game and, at the same time, retaining and sharpening the core features players love about it. This also serves as a testament to the developer's abiding desire to push the game further.

The mention of better animation shows that no matter how great-looking "NBA 2K15" is, there is still a way to make it even better. The current title already runs at 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second . It would be exciting to see how 2K Sports will further revamp this.

Not too long ago, three alleged covers for "NBA 2K16," featuring Stephen Curry from Golden State Warriors, James Harden from Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunders' Kevin Durant, were leaked. If this is indeed the case, then the upcoming game's cover will be unlike "NBA 2K15," which featured only the latter. It will be more like "NBA 2K12" that had Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson.  The leak about the covers also gave away the involvement of filmmaker and full-fledged Knicks fan Spike Lee, who is said to be working on a career mode for the title.

As for the release date, "NBA 2K16" is expected to hit the shelves in the first week of October.
