The San Antonio Spurs may be in for a drastic change, something that has been swirling around ever since the 2014-15 champs got the boot in the first round of the playoffs by the Los Angeles Clippers.

It was mentioned that there could be players leaving the fold and the latest name that has surfaced is that of Tiago Splitter.

The long-time forward may be traded soon, a move that is seen to make way for the expected run that the team would make for LaMarcus Aldridge.

Aldridge has been in the headlines to date ever since revealing that he would seriously explore his free agency options. And while a lot of teams will surely try to go after the Portland Trailblazer once the NBA Free Agency opens, the Spurs seem to be hell-bent on acquiring Aldridge which may need some financial leeway.

Splitter has two years left on his $17 million contract with the Spurs. He is a quiet contributor and has been known to do the intangibles for Gregg Popovich's cause.

But with the opportunity to get Aldridge practically within their grasp, the Spurs are exploring all their options on which player/s could be moved for his possible addition.

With Tim Duncan expected to retire anytime soon, Aldridge is being groomed to take over the soon-to-be-vacated position. Along with Manu Ginobili who could likewise be hanging up his sneakers as well, it is apparent that the Spurs need to infuse new blood and create another version of the big three if they are to remain competitive.

For now, the Spurs only have Kawhi Leonard under their wing and maybe even Danny Green. It would all depend on who the Spurs have in mind but for now, the focus seems to be on Aldridge, a player who has proven his worth and is obviously looking to snag an NBA ring.
