A mother in Miami, Florida, Miriam Rebolledo, was apprehended by the local authorities after she was found guilty of burning her son's hand over a lit stove. Despite the strong evidence against Rebolledo, she stood firm in saying the she was trying her best to be a good parent and that reports on the incident have exaggerated the story.

In a report by NBC Miami, Rebolledo was charged with aggravated child abuse by the local authorities in Miami after investigating the incident. Rebolledo stated that her son is the rebellious type, and the stove incident was a result of him repeatedly assaulting his other school mates. Rebolledo's son is only six years old, and she is now in jail with a $7,500 bond.

According to Palm Beach Post, the 29-year-old Rebolledo was apprehended on Thursday night, Nov. 9. The police reports revealed that "The defendant stated she could not take it anymore, and had to use a more extreme form of punishment to teach the child a lesson." This led to Rebolledo implementing a more severe punishment in the hopes of getting through to the boy.

Judge Ariana Fajardo Orshan reminded Rebolledo that the form of punishment her son received was downright illegal. As reported by Local 10 News, Rebolledo stated that the boy has a history of committing violent acts, and had even "killed an animal" in the past. The violent nature of the punishment was deemed necessary by Rebolledo, especially since she did not want her son to turn into a criminal when he grows up.

Rebolledo is originally from Colombia, according to The Inquisitr. In the past, Rebolledo sent her son to psychiatrists so that he could work on his issues. However, this has not worked, according to his mother. Rebolledo even stated that in the most recent incident, her son bullied a girl. She was also afraid that her son would grow up to become a wife beater, which is frowned upon in the culture of Colombia.
