'Mortal Kombat X': free mobile companion app now available

Now that the gaming community is close to experiencing first-hand the latest and most gruesome fighting tournament in "Mortal Kombat X," more of the NetherRealms-developed title is already up for grabs and in showcase.

For one, the mobile companion app for "Mortal Kombat X" is already available for download on Android and iOS devices. The game feels noticeably like "Injustice: Gods Among Us," which is also a NetherRealms' work of art.

Users can download the "Mortal Kombat" mobile companion app for free, which is a treat knowing that it is basically the shriveled version of the console game. And it is designed with all the much-needed nuts and bolts and the ability to execute an ultra-vicious Fatality, which is awesome.

Players can choose three fighters for their team, and they have to battle and defeat other groups of three, which basically becomes harder to beat as gamers move forward and win battles. To play, gamers can tap once for a quick attack, and then swipe for an attack that has more impact. To block an opponent's attack and deflect damage, one can simply hold down two fingers.

Furthermore, the "Mortal Kombat X" companion also brings tons of costumes to unlock as well as rewards. The fun part is that these costumes and rewards can be carried over to the console version of the game. Speaking of costume, players will be able to unlock Scorpion's Injustice costume in the game. Notably, the ninja-clad fighter was a downloadable character in "Injustice: Gods Among Us."

Furthermore, there are cool character bios and Krypt maps to get a load of. Players can even customize their profile icons, background and all other modifiable settings, which will give them an XP boost.

In other "Mortal Kombat X" news, the Day One update for the game is already available. It comes hefty at 1.8 GB for the PS4 and it should be around that size for the Xbox One as well.

Neither Warner Bros. nor NetherRealms has officially announced the update, but those who managed to access it already shared patch notes as seen on the PS4 update history. These include improved online stability, multiplayer invite improvements, gameplay fixes and balancing, and also fixes for both localized language and other bugs.

"Mortal Kombat X" will officially come out on April 14. Xbox 360 and PS3 players will be able to get it by summer.
