'Mortal Kombat X' rumors and updates: Possible skin pack revealed in new leak

NetherRealms Studios has not completely taken the covers off the roster of fighters to enter the deadly arena in the much-awaited fighting game "Mortal Kombat X," and it is likely that it will be that way until it launches. DLC-wise, the game studio is tightfisted on details, too, simply telling fans that costume packs will be coming out for the game.

However, a leak from MP1ST revealed what might be the first of the promised five DLC packs that will be integrated in the game. The screenshot shows a skin pack themed "Feudal Japan" and it is likely to roll out on the same day as "Mortal Kombat X" if it is the skin pack executive producer Shaun Himmerick was pertaining to

Although the screenshot leaves many skeptical as it might just be an intricately-crafted fake, others believe that it is the real deal. Besides, a "Feudal Japan" skin pack would be wonderful for "Mortal Kombat X" as a bunch of the warriors in the roster hails from the country. Some are ninjas even. So fighters like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kotal Kahn and Raiden could be throwing on some cool new gear when the DLC gets here. Also, the list in the leak includes Goro, who fans will get as a pre-order character.

Himmerick also touted that "Mortal Kombat X" will outnumber the skins made for "Mortal Kombat 9" or any other iteration of the wildly popular series. However, the skins will not be as much as the ones on "Injustice: Gods Among Us," which had 40.

As far as the reveal of the rest of the warriors in "Mortal Kombat X," it looks like NetherRealms wants fans to check them out for themselves when the title comes out. This week, the developer has been mum about a new combatant although rumor mills kept churning on the possible inclusion of Spawn (Todd McFarlane already nodded to it if ever "Mortal Kombat X" would want to include him) and Predator from the science fiction franchise that stars Arnold Schwarzenegger. The comic book tie-up of the game revealed a gun slinger from the Wild West named Erron Black. It is rumored that he will be playable in the game, too.

"Mortal Kombat X" will be out on April 14 for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
