'Mortal Kombat X' Kombat Pack 3 DLC set to be unveiled at EVO 2016?

Mortal Kombat X - Tri-Borg Netherrealm Studios

EVO 2016 is just around the corner in Las Vegas and fans of Mortal Kombat are wondering if NetherRealm Studios will give them what they are looking for, an announcement on the latest downloadable content for "Mortal Kombat X".

After all, Ed Boon dropped a pretty big teaser on his Twitter account, assuring fans that although their big project of late has been "Injustice 2", they have more news coming regarding "Mortal Kombat X."

Hence, Mortal Kombat fans are wondering if that news is an announcement on Kombat Pack 3.

Boon may see EVO 2016, the fighting game tournament, as the ideal platform to reveal the latest content for "Mortal Kombat X" after his Twitter post made a cryptic reference to it - Boon capitalized the letters E, V and O in different words in his post.

What we're also wondering is which characters the pack will include, as we have yet to see Sindel, the other half of Shao Kahn, and also the popular fighter Rain.

In a previous interview with Game Informer, Boon hinted that there may be guest characters.

"I always think there's a novelty to it and there's a certain amount of people who think that when they see a guest character that it took the slot of a DC character that they wanted to have," he said.

"But you know, Scorpion in 'Injustice' was the most downloaded of all the characters. There was a coolness and a novelty factor to seeing the mixing of the things. Alien and Predator in 'Mortal Kombat X' were the most downloaded of those, so I would be surprised if we didn't do any of that [in Injustice 2]."

There could also be more about "Mortal Kombat X" being playable on PC, which would be a significant turn around as NetherRealm previously decided not to release the title to the PC platform, which was something of a disappointment to PC gamers.

We may also see a new costume pack for gamers but whatever it is NetherRealm is planning, we'll have to wait until EVO 2016 to find out.

EVO 2016 takes place from July 15 to 17 in Las Vegas so be sure not to miss it.
