'Minecraft' Wii U release date: Game fails to show up after alleged Nov. 12 release

Minecraft Mojang

"Minecraft" Wii U Edition was recently spotted at the Pan European Game Information website, where it was listed to be released Nov. 12. It was a likely feat, knowing that on the same day, the Nintendo Direct event was scheduled to take place.

The rating for the game read, via Segment Next:

"The content of this game is suitable for persons aged 7 years and over only. It contains: Non realistic looking violence towards fantasy characters – Pictures or sounds likely to be scary to young children – Non realistic looking violence towards characters which although human are not very detailed."

Unfortunately, "Minecraft" Wii U Edition failed to show up at the event and a few days later, the listing was mysteriously removed from the PEGI site. At the moment, it is difficult to determine why the listing was put up and was eventually taken down.

Segment Next attempts to understand the actions and was led to conclude that the "Minecraft" Wii U Edition going live was simply a blunder. It is important to note that when a game pops up at the PEGI website, it usually gets released in next to no time.

The site believes that "Minecraft" Wii U Edition is still in the test beds and is not ready to be made available yet. It could be that Microsoft is still polishing the game and getting ready for PEGI before the game is made official.

At the moment, Microsoft or any other companies involved are yet to provide explanation as to what really is going on behind the scenes of the game development. It remains unclear when the sandbox game makes it to the Nintendo console or if it ever will.

For now, there are tons of ways to play "Minecraft," with majority of gaming consoles supporting it. Mobile versions of the title also available.
