The Milwaukee Bucks are serious about their plans to go big, literally.
After the ballclub had reportedly expressed interest in acquiring Tyson Chandler and/or Brook Lopez, another big man has joined the list – Roy Hibbert of the Indiana Pacers.
Hibbert is another one of those players with a player option heading into the 2015-16 NBA season which guarantees him $15.5 million if he stays on. Either that or Hibbert could be looking to sign a lucrative max contract with another team.
Hibbert has been rumored before as a possible player up for trade, especially after the Pacers center had another disappointing season. His numbers have dipped significantly and that alone could hinder his wish to get a max-contract offer.
The Bucks however could set that fact aside at least for the meantime and gamble on Hibbert, a two-time NBA All Star (2012, 2014) and First-team selection (2007, 2008).
Hibbert, only 28, can still evolve into a good player but it will entail proper work and guidance. Jason Kidd and the Bucks could try their hand on it though it will be interesting to see if they do resort to a max-contract given Hibbert's poor performance which started back in the 2014 playoffs.
Another point to factor in is the fact that Hibbert could be getting lesser minutes next season. This comes from no less than Pacers president Larry Bird who stressed that Hibbert would have to work his way back again to his starting spot.
And with the Pacers planning to employ an up-tempo kind of game, Hibbert may find himself lost in transition.
The easiest route for Hibbert could be to opt out and join the Bucks though the risk is certainly something that cannot promise success for Kidd and the Bucks.
Hibbert will most probably be the team's plan B just in case they fail to land their first priorities – Tyson Chandler and Brook Lopez.
