Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release date news: 2-in-1 hybrid launch in October?

Many users of Microsoft's Surface lineup have been hoping that a successor to the Surface Pro 3 would eventually come out. Rumor mills have been particularly quiet about the existence of the Surface Pro 4 in the past weeks, but a new report from Digitimes claims that the rumored 2-in-1 machine from Redmond's software titan will be here in October. The site reveals that Microsoft has ordered components of the device from its upstream supply chain to ship this September.

The same article reports that the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 will keep the ultra-thin form factor of its predecessor as well as its classy magnesium chassis. The large display will still be intact and the 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution will be unchanged, if the report hits the nail on the head.

Microsoft reportedly intends to upgrade the device by using Intel's Skylake processor, the newest and most powerful chipset currently available. The Surface Pro refresh will undoubtedly run the new Windows 10 operating system, which its maker is scheduled to reveal by the end of this month.

Digitimes also writes that Microsoft will make use of Samsung SSD drives that offer up to 256 GB and will opt in a hefty 16 GB RAM for a stellar and snappy power and performance. There was no mention of other possible storage options although it will be great to see one model with 1 TB of space.

According to Hexus, this year, manufacturers will see a spike in sales and demand for hybrid devices such as the Surface Pro 4. Even Microsoft seems to believe in the notion as it has seen for itself a rise in its shipments from 250,000 to 300,000 per month ever since the Surface Pro 3 was introduced.

It is predicted that with the alleged unveiling of the new-generation Surface Pro, the demand will increase twofold.
