Microsoft's newest and freshly-introduced Windows phones, the Lumia 640 and 640 XL, arrived in India on April 7. The handsets will make their debut in the country via Flipkart, after teasers pertaining to the arrival of the handsets were posted on Twitter just recently.

The retailer posted an image showing two medals with Microsoft's Windows logo. A camera icon is etched on one while a battery icon is embedded on the other. The Microsoft Lumia 640 and 640 XL, interestingly, are known for their imaging and battery boost.

While it is almost certain that the Redmond-based tech firm will be launching the devices there, it is still unknown how they will be sold. Handsets, though, are usually put up on a flash sale in Flipkart so that might be Microsoft's way to go.

The Lumia 640 and 640 XL have decent specs and lovely features squeezed in an affordable package. Microsoft, it seems, has a penchant for bringing mid-range handsets and has gotten very good at making them, too.

The Lumia 640 comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display that runs on a 1080 resolution. On the other hand, the Lumia 640 XL serves as Microsoft's first mid-range phablet offering whose HD screen, although rendering the same pixels as its smaller counterpart, measures 5.7 inches.

The siblings both make use of a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. This is robustly complemented with 1 GB of RAM. The 640 and 640 XL run Windows 8.1 with the latest Lumia Denim on the go.

Imaging-wise, the Lumia 640 has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera to boast as well as a 1-megapixel shooter on the front. Its phablet kin, on the other hand, features a strapping 13-megapixel primary snapper with Carl Zeiss optics. Users can take great selfies with its 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 gets its juice from a 2500 mAH battery while the Lumia 640 XL, being the bigger one, hosts a 3000 mAh unit. With the Microsoft event, taglined "Inspiration doesn't only work 9 to 5" pushing through today, users in India should see these handsets very soon.
