Microsoft is putting a few new mid-range Lumia phones up for grabs. The Lumia 435, which was first introduced in January and was initially for India's taking, is now for sale in Ireland. Tesco Mobile is offering the new device for €80 via Pay As You Go, reiterating the Redmond-based tech giant's goal in bringing capable handsets that won't burn a hole in the pocket.
The handset comes with a 4-inch LCD display rendering a 480 x 800 pixel resolution. Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor paired up with a dual-core CPU. It has Lumia Denim update running, and for its price, a 1 GB RAM and an 8 GB expandable memory makes it a greater buy. Its juice comes from its 1560 mAh battery. Lastly, there is a VGA camera on the front and a 2-megapixel shooter at the back.
If Lumia 435 does not do the charm, perhaps the pair of Lumia 640 devices will. However, interested buyers will have to wait as this one will not be out until April 28. For now, Microsoft has already brought the 640 and its XL variant out for pre-order. The company lists the former with a £170 price tag while it has the latter put up for £219.
The Lumia 640 comes with a 5-inch HD LCD display. What makes its alternate an XL is its 5.7-inch screen. The Lumia 640 XL has ClearBlack technology which, in part, explains its higher price.
The XL's edge over the 640 is its superior imaging capabilities — 13-megapixel rear-facing snapper complete with Carl Zeiss f/2.0 optics along with a 5-megapixel front camera, which is more than enough for a selfie. The Lumia 640 sports an 8-megapixel primary camera unit and has a 1-megapixel front snapper for its future owners.
Battery-wise, the Lumia 640 XL's size needs a more hulking one so it was given a 3000 mAh battery. The Lumia 640 should last about five hours less than its big brother. Under the hood, both pack a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and puts forward 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB expandable memory. Both have Lumia Denim update on the go as well.
