F1 legendary driver Michael Schumacher is now being treated at his Lake Geneva, Switzerland home and is already in the company of his wife Corina and the kids. However, the Schumacher family continues to push through with a media blackout resulting in very little news about Michael's current health condition.
Michael suffered a severe brain injury due to a skiing accident in the French Alps. He was under an induced coma for six months and was able to recover in June 2014. By September, Michael has recovered enough and was released from a Geneva hospital. He is now continuing his treatment at home.
According to Mirror, Michael's family is planning to build him a £10 million hospital room in their home for his continued treatment and recovery. But the home care for Michael is already straining the family's finances and Corina has no other choice but to sell the family's Norwegian holiday home to help finance the said hospital room. The holiday home was reportedly sold for £2 million and is believed to be the F1 driver's refuge from the media.
Michael's manager Sabine Kehm hasn't made any confirmation about this news. That last time she made a statement, she only described the progress of Michael's recovery.
"We need a long time. He is making progress appropriate to the severity of the situation," says Kehm.
Elsewhere, Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone shared that he also doesn't know anything about Michael's current health condition. Talking to Auto Week, he said "I know nothing about his current condition. This may sound strange, but it would have been more logical if he had had his accident in racing."
Ecclestone has known Michael for over 20 years now and he believes that what happened to Michael is a "tragedy."
"That is the tragedy of this story. He had a lot of crashes and took a lot of risks, but for it to happen like this? It was not even a skiing race," he added.
Michael has 91 Formula One titles to his name and is considered to be the most successful racing car driver of all time, reports Auto Week.
