As expected, N7 Day was a source of news and goodies for "Mass Effect" fans. Although the new announcements revealed that "Mass Effect 4" (if fans can even call it that) is still far-off, fans were assured of a revolutionary fourth installment of their well-loved game.

Game developer Bioware has long brought the almost 10-year endeavor to a close to give way to a new and better one. It is said that "Mass Effect 4" will be in complete disconnect with the "Mass Effect" trilogy. Instead of a sequel, the game was tagged as a "spiritual successor" of the trilogy, as VG 427 reported.

The developer has also shared some initial concept arts for "Mass Effect 4," giving gamers a glimpse of the whole new cosmic environments to embark on in the fourth installment.

"We are definitely developing new species, new alien races and because of that these new species, these new aliens do have their own architecture," Bioware developers said in the Twitch livestream, via Only SP.

Only SP also pointed out that the Mako, which has been revealed to be more exploitable in the game again, may be an indication that the Frostbite-developed game will feature a large open-world environment to explore, much like what another Bioware title, "Dragon Age: Inquisition," has.

In addition, "Halo" writer Chris Schlerf was tapped to lead the writing department for the new title. The esteemed writer has been with Bioware for a year now but it is only since yesterday that he was able to tell the gaming world of his big project. Leading fellow playwrights, Schlerf will put together a roster of characters to love.

"As a writer, I write for characters. To me, it's always about what makes my characters tick and what stories I can tell through those characters that will actually engage people about their own lives. It provides a mirror to that player's experience [so that they are] not just sitting back in an armchair," Schlerf said via PC Gamer.

A release date remains unknown but Bioware, as Games Spot reported, is making "solid progress" as the focus is gradually shifting to "Mass Effect 4" after the culmination of its hottest game, "Dragon Age: Inquisition."

"Mass Effect 4" will be available for PC, Xbox One and PS4.  Bioware has yet to confirm if the upcoming game will be playable in the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles.
