The court will be in session and the battleground will be set for action in April. Marvel has teamed up with Netflix to kickstart the escapades of the man without fear.
The online streaming service has released a trailer for its brand new live-action series "Daredevil" and it bears a dark and creepy vibe. A certain element to the show is blood — and barrels of it. The other is its expected PG-16 level of violence. This explains the series' TV-MA rating (graphic violence and/or sex).
"Daredevil" follows the dealings and failings of Matthew Murdock, a valiant blind attorney in the courtroom who follows the book religiously and doubles as a still justice-thirsty vigilante who takes matters into his own hands when darkness strikes. Netflix and Marvel picked "Boardwalk Empire" actor Charlie Cox to play the role of the plucky superhero in the brand new series.
In the trailer, Daredevil's voice resonates as he asks forgiveness for something he is about to do. His plea plays in the background as he carries out his plans to bring someone down — all that while the trailer occasionally pans to characters in fear, agony, misery and bloodshed.
There were already previous attempts to bring Daredevil out of the comics and into the screens. Ben Affleck played as the unsighted Avenger back in 2003 under 20th Century Fox. The film was not a flop but it was not a big hit either.
Daredevil is best known for his scarlet costume but the Netflix series went for his black ninja-style gear, the same one he donned in the "Daredevil: Man Without Fear" comic book miniseries.
The first season of Netflix's "Daredevil" will consist of 13 episodes and all these will be available to Netflix subscribers across the globe on April 10. Deborah Ann Woll, Rosario Dawson, and Vincent D'Onofrio will also star in the new series.
Marvel buffs will be happy to know that the comic book sensation also tied a whole string of Marvel-spawned heroes to Netflix so fans can expect series for "Jessica Jones," "Luke Cage" and "Iron Fist."
