Macbook Air 2016 specs rumors: thin design to tackle Microsoft Surface Pro 4

Rumor mills are going crazy about the Macbook Air 2016, Apple's purported upgrade to the Macbook that released March this year. There are many speculations regarding the laptop's date of outing but Master Herald says it all boils down to when the new, state-of-the-art Intel processors will be out.

The device is set to be equipped with the Intel Core M-based Skylake processors, the upgrade to the company's Broadwell units, which are powering up the current Macbook. It is said that these units, which will drastically boost the laptop's performance and power, will only be ready by the end of the year.

What this tells us is that the Macbook Air 2016 won't likely be revealed this year, as what some rumors claim. This, on the other hand, makes it more probable that the Cupertino-based company's upcoming laptop offering will be introduced early next year.

Master Herald also stated that the device may only be mentioned or made official on October this year and will hit the market by March next year. This is exactly the same thing that it did for the current Macbook laptop.

On the technical side of things, there was a rash of rumors pertaining to what the Macbook Air 2016 will boast under the hood, with most of its specs sheet already uncovered by speculations. But nothing is really being said about what it will look like.

Most will assume that Apple will stick with its sophisticated design and layout for the new Macbook. Besides, it never fails to look and feel elegant. The Motley Fool says that the device will come in a beautiful thin industrial design and will make use of the reversible Type USB-C port.

The Macbook Air 2016 will also be expected to don a higher definition Retina display for its two size options—one at 13 inches and the other at 15 inches. The screen will undoubtedly look and work much better with the Skylake processors from Intel powering up the device.

With all this in one impressive package, the Macbook Air 2016 will definitely give the purported Microsoft Surface Pro 4, whose lineup champion the field of laptop and tablet hybrids, a run for its money.
