Lucas Lent pack to help believers sing in times of trouble

Christian author, speaker and broadcaster Jeff Lucas has teamed up with the ministry of Selwyn Hughes, CWR, to produce a DVD resource pack for Lent to help Christians "dance in the downpour".

The Singing in the Rain pack is aimed at Christians struggling to make sense of the current global financial crisis and how their faith in God can help them get through it.

"Singing in the Rain explores how a real Christian faith can make a genuine difference when life's violent storms and painful surprises hit," said Lucas, a popular presenter on Premier Christian Radio.

The material takes as its inspiration the second half of the Gospel of Mark, with sessions exploring how Jesus conducted himself in the week leading up to His crucifixion.

Lucas' hallmark humorous, gritty and relevant teaching characterises the pack, which contains six lessons and a series of thought-provoking questions from the accompanying workbook to help stimulate meaningful discussion. Daily Bible readings put together by Lucas help link lessons together.

Although the material can be used all year round, the lessons and Bible readings are designed especially for Lent study at the group and individual level.

Mick Brooks, head of CWR, welcomed Lucas' "dynamic" new resource.

"Singing in the Rain is alive with energy, biblical insight and everyday relevance. My hope and prayer is that it will make a profound difference to some of the very many Christians currently grappling with new painful and bewildering circumstances," he said.

The Singing in the Rain DVD is out now priced £18.99, with an accompanying booklet priced £3.50.
