LA Lakers rumors, news: Season ends for Jeremy Lin - what is his future?

Jeremy Lin is one of the players not expected to be in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform next season and the Harvard University standout was hoping to somehow finish his tenure with a bang.

However with a sore left knee, Lin's plans may not happen.

As the Lakers wind up their season, uncertainty on Lin's future with the Lakers is nothing new. It is no secret that Lin has had his run-ins with Kobe Bryant and is unable to blend in perfectly with coach Byron Scott's system.

Scott did pay tribute to Lin's improvement, explaining that he and the Asian American had different takes on the role of Lin at the point guard position. But with an untimely injury, it seems that we have seen the last of Lin at least in a Lakers uniform.

Further compounding Lin's expected exit is the fact that another player, Dwight Buycks may be signed to a contract. Between Buycks and Lin, it seems Scott is more comfortable with the 26-year old playmaker though he stresses that there are still some kinks that Buycks will have to work on.

And in order for the Lakers to sign Buycks who joined the team via the hardship exception, one of the current players will have to be waived. And as you would guess, Lin will most likely be that player.

Lin's NBA career was a Cinderella-type journey. He made big waves in New York and later on brought his act to Houston. Linsanity however died when the American-Asian started to journey from one team to another and hopes were high that he would rekindle that energy with the Lakers.

Sadly it never happened and now Lin may soon find himself looking for another team. Lin is making $14.9 million this season but now it remains to be seen if he will be getting that kind of paycheck on whoever picks him up.

To date, there is no team that is hot on his track but there should be one once the current NBA season ends.
