Looney Tunes movie hinted by Warner Bros.

Bugs Bunny and friends will try to reclaim the box-office success of their 1996 film 'Space Jam' in their upcoming film 'Acme.' Facebook

After more than a decade, Bugs Bunny and the gang will finally return to the big screen sometime soon.

A report posted by Variety said that Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, the writing duo behind X-Men: First Class as well as Crazy Stupid Love, are tapped to write the script for the upcoming Looney Tunes spin-off which will be called Acme.

Steve Carrell is also reported to star in the new Warner Bros film, while Dan Lin and Roy Lee will produce it.

Bugs and the other iconic Looney Tunes characters, including Daffy Duck, Sylvester, Tweety Bird, Porky Pig, the Road Runner, and Wile E. Coyote, were last seen on the big screen back in 2003 when the box-office flop Looney Tunes: Back in Action was released. The gang was joined by big stars like Brendan Fraser, Steve Martin, and Jenna Elfman in that film.

Variety also said that the upcoming movie is part of the Warner Bros.' plan to release animated films that could be interesting to all age groups. This plan stemmed from the wide success of The Lego Movie in the box office earlier this year.

However, there are no other details provided in the report about the upcoming movie. The article did not discuss the possible plot for the film, or if it will be a combination of live action and animation just like what Warner Bros. did with Back in Action, as well as the more successful Space Jam film starring NBA legend Michael Jordan back in 1996.

Fans of the iconic cartoon series know that Acme is the fictional corporation inside the Looney Tunes world. The company is responsible for making crazy weapons that seem to horribly backfire most of the time.

Aside from the Acme film, the writing duo of Stentz and Miller is also busy with other highly-awaited sequels like Top Gun 2 and the Power Rangers reboot.

Acme's movie release date is yet to be announced as of the moment.
