'Longmire' season 4 plot: Writer Tony Tost talks perseverance

"Longmire" is tough as nails. Needless to say, the show's fans are, too. And if there is one thing that the "Longmire" cast, crew and fans have in common, it is their perseverance in getting the show up and running once again. Without their persistent efforts, networks wouldn't have given the A&E-cancelled show another look. The cancellation did hamper their spirits, but they persevered, and eventually, Netflix picked it up and renewed it for a fourth season, much to the delight of the TV drama's hardcore fans. 

Writer Tony Tost shares the same experience. Before being a writer for "Longmire," he shared how he got through life and how perseverance helped him land the job. 

"I worked in a pickle factory. Now I have a Ph.D. from Duke & make a living writing. Community college was my door. #FreeCommunityCollege" Tost tweeted

The show waited tirelessly to see if any network would pick them up. Certainly, the renewal of "Longmire" was something that Tost was hoping for, and the major setback didn't stop him and the whole team from coming up with the best storylines yet. 

As previously reported, Tost has the habit of tweeting songs while he is writing the script for the show. Getting clues from his tweets, it's possible that one of the plots would tackle the story of Cady's mother. And that's only one of the things that the writer and the whole production team is presumably working on for season 4.  

Although there will be a change in format for the show, getting picked up is already considered a success. Moreover, with Netflix running the show, the whole season would be filmed first as all episodes will be released at the same time. 

Filming for season 4 will start in March, while "Longmire" will make its return on Netflix in summer this year.
