LG G Flex 2 vs Galaxy S6 specs comparison: Can LG stand up to the Samsung hype?

 Samsung.com

Once the Samsung Galaxy S6 does hit the market, there is no question that its hefty price tag is something many would be pondering on.

With that in mind, could consumers look for alternatives? Surely there would be a lot. But as far as a device which is perhaps the closest when it comes to spec-for-spec is concerned, the LG G Flex 2 could be probably it.

Brand-wise, there is no doubt that Samsung would still stand out. However that should not discount out the chances of the LG G Flex 2.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 will be headlined by its curved 5.1-inch AMOLED display with a 557ppi. As far as the LG G Flex 2 is concerned, it offers a fairly larger P-OLED display (5.5-inches) but with a lower 403 ppi.

For the camera comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will have a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The LG G Flex 2 offers a lower 13MP back camera and a relatively low 2.1 front shooter.

The S6 will make use of an Exynos 7420 chipset and a CPU with four A53 (1.5GHz) and A57 (2.1 GHz) cores while the LG G Flex 2 will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset with quad core A53 and A57. The S6 will have a Mali-T760 GPU while the G Flex 2 will use an Adreno 430 GPU.

For storage, here is where the LG G Flex 2 could have an advantage. It will still come with the usual 16GB and 32GB internal storage but will provide expandable options via microSD of up to 2TB.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 will not have the expandable microSD options but will have 32GB, 64 GB and 128GB variants.

In all, it seems pretty much even in most fronts with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the LG G Flex 2 having perks which may not really matter that much eventual buyers.

However, pricing could pay a role. The Samsung Galaxy S6 which is expected to come out in April is priced starting at $855 for the 32GB variant. The LG G2 Flex on the other hand is priced at $699.60 off contract.
