Leprosy Mission launches new website

The Leprosy Mission England and Wales has launched a brand new website to make its online presence far more accessible, attractive and informative.

The Leprosy Mission England and Wales said the website was a vital means of communicating with current supporters and attracting new potential supporters. It is also aimed at people looking for general information about leprosy itself and the social and physical implications of having the disease.

The development of the site, by RedTomato Web Consultancy took three months from the first planning meeting held at the end of July.

The new website retains some key features of the old site, including areas for regional fundraising news and event details which are regularly updated. It also still has a 'kid's place' with information about leprosy and junior supporters' fundraising stories.

New features include a video clip on the home page and an opportunity to sign up for e-newsletters.

Jean Jones, The Leprosy Mission's Head of Fundraising and Communications, who coordinated the redesign, says, "Our old website worked more as a notice board for people who already supported our organisation, but the new site is much more accessible for people who know nothing about us or about leprosy.

"With the effects of the credit crunch it is now more vital than ever that we attract new and younger supporters and make better use of digital media and communications.

"We have been aware for a long time that we simply cannot afford not to invest in an effective website."
