With Nintendo's efforts to develop more games for smartphones and the nearing advent of the new gaming platform Nintendo NX comes the upswing of rumors that "The Legend of Zelda" may not be coming to the Wii U platform.

Fans are keenly waiting for news regarding the title, but instead of discussing the upcoming "Zelda" game at the Electronic Entertainment Expo, Nintendo took the stage to announce another title in the same universe called "Triforce Heroes," which will be released for the Nintendo 3DS this fall.

IGN spoke with celebrated game designer and Nintendo Entertainment and Analysis General Manager Shigeru Miyamoto to seek some answers regarding the title and also to learn if it is going to be released for the Wii U soon.

"We're here [in E3] to talk about Star Fox but Zelda is still coming to Wii U so don't worry about that," Miyamoto revealed via an interpreter. "My thing with E3 is that we always focus on what's coming out in the immediate future."

He assured fans that there will be news and info about "The Legend of Zelda" for Wii U but the time has yet to come to reveal all those.

"We have some really great Zelda footage and, at some point we will be showing that off, but not today," Miyamoto said.

At the moment, it remains to be seen if the installment will be released for the GameCube console as well. "Twilight Princess" was released for both the Wii U and the last generation console.

For now, the attention is being redirected to "Triforce Heroes," a co-op multiplayer adventure game where a pack of three work together to traverse dungeons, solve puzzles, battle bosses, and collect items to gain new abilities.
