"Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" might make it to an early 2017 launch after all — at least, according to retailer GameStop.

In its latest earnings report, it was suggested that the highly-anticipated "Legend of Zelda" installment was listed under the releases for the first quarter.

This means that GameStop will be preparing for the launch of "Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" around January to March next year.

This is a lot earlier than the release date being tagged by previous leaks. It is said that the game will not arrive until June 2017 and that it will not be a launch title as previously expected.

A few days ago, a listing on Target, which can no longer be accessed, indicated a June 13 release date for "Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

Well-placed insider Laura Kate Dale provided information in line with the leak, saying that Nintendo is planning to release "Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" in the United Kingdom on June 16 for the Nintendo Switch.

The Wii U version of the upcoming action-adventure video game will reportedly be released in the said region a week later, as per Dale.

A couple of weeks back, insider Emily Rogers said that "Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" will not be a Nintendo Switch launch title, but rather the "3D Mario" game will accompany the console at launch.

"[Sources] told me that localization for Breath of the Wild might not be finished until the end of December. After localization is completed, this game will require between (at least) four-to-six months of testing," Rogers wrote.

"This is one of Nintendo's largest and most ambitious games ever. The amount of testing required for a huge open-world game like this is enormous. Nintendo's intention is to have the game as bug free as possible," she added.

Nintendo's go-getting vision for "Legends of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" pushes the game to be delayed to a summer release, as per Rogers.

This means that the game could be released in June 2017 at the earliest. It is unclear what it means for the GameStop calendar that states otherwise.
