Leah Remini speculates that members of Scientology are protected from sexual harassment cases

American actress, producer, and former member of the Church of Scientology, Leah Remini, has made claims that the organization could be protecting their members who are currently under scrutiny due to sexual harassment issues. Particularly, the organization is allegedly being deliberately unhelpful in the investigation of former "That 70's Show" alum and Scientology member, Danny Masterson, who has already been accused by four women.

In a report by Daily Beast, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) have initially claimed that they were on top of the investigation behind the allegations made against Masterson for sexual assault. However, Remini has stated that LAPD Captain, Cory Palka, is also a member of the religious organization as well. This could mean that the Church of Scientology could be pulling some strings for the investigations against Masterson to be pushed back.

It is also important to mention that despite Netflix being quick to shut down "House of Cards" because of Kevin Spacey, and Louis C.K.'s shows on their platform, Masterson's show "The Ranch" is still up and running. In fact, season 4 will be released on schedule, on Dec. 15, while season 5 is already being filmed. This is highly inconsistent of the streaming giant, to which they claim that no action will be taken until the matter is settled with Masterson.

As reported by the AV Club, Remini has not taken kindly to this news. With the possibility of the LAPD Captain and the Church of Scientology being in cahoots with each other, this could be the reason as to why Masterson's case is currently being "downplayed" or simply ignored by the local authorities. In addition to that, Masterson being a prominent figure in Scientology could be the reason as to why he is receiving premium protection.

These are very strong claims that Remini has made. This time, she is not only targeting Scientology itself, but is alleging that the local authorities are delaying the investigation of Masterson's case. However, Remini claimed that there have been compelling evidence that can be used against Masterson if and when the case is pushed forward, according to Refinery 29.
