LA Lakers rumors: Swap Jordan Hill for Brook Lopez?

As the current season looks bleaker with each game that passes, the Los Angeles Lakers may perhaps be better off looking at the future. With a woeful record of 12-31 as of this writing, it may only take a miracle for the Lakers to even make the playoffs.

Adding more woes to the Lakers' cause is the looming possibility that Kobe may be out for the rest of the season yet again. Bryant underwent an MRI after hurting his right shoulder in a game against the Pelicans. An MRI showed a torn rotator cuff which could potentially end the Black Mamba's season on yet another sour note.

The Lakers are still weighing options and some players may be going. Jeremy Lin has failed to get along with Kobe and was rumored to be on the trading block. However it seems that even Jordan Hill may be parting Hollywood soon.

Hill has been a far cry from previous years so it wouldn't be surprising if the Lakers to eventually trade him. That could possibly open the door for Brook Lopez who is in hot pursuit of several teams. But that could only happen if the Lakers come up with something interesting which could all curtail to Hill being included in the package.

As for the future, the Lakers could plan as early as now for the upcoming free agents. Among them would be the rising Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls and Greg Monroe. Brandon Jennings could be another prospect but rumors have it that a straight up trade involving Jennings and Lin could materialize before the trade deadline comes.

Sad to say, the Lakers need to rebuild and do it fast. With their current performance, it would mark back-to-back disappointing seasons for the Hollywood ballclub, a sight the fans over at Inglewood are surely not used to seeing.
