The Los Angeles Lakers have made their case known and that they will be on the lookout for a reliable forward, someone who could provide help up front for coach Byron Scott.
Part of that could be of course satisfied when the Lakers announce their no. 2 pick in the coming NBA Draft which could either be Jahlil Okafor or Karl-Anthony Towns.
And then there is the free agent period starting July where the Lakers are expected to make a possible pitch to Marc Gasol, Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, Greg Monroe or maybe even DeAndre Jordan. The going may be rough for the Lakers seeing that other teams have those names in their group so there is a possibility that they end up empty-handed. So where do they go from there?
A name that comes to mind is Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. Green is of course busy trying to help out Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and the rest of the Warriors in the ongoing NBA Finals so don't expect him to even think about free agency for now. But he could be a prime target for the Lakers.
Green has shown remarkable improvement, finishing runner up to Kawhi Leonard in the NBA Defensive Player of the Year race. With that in mind, the Lakers could do well with a player in his caliber to toughen up their frontline.
But while that though seems to be of interest, there is no indication that Green has plans of bolting the Warriors. The Lakers could try but the likelihood of Green jumping ship doesn't necessarily provide good odds.
More so, Green is with a winning team right now who has a good chance as any to snag the NBA title against a severely depleted Cleveland Cavaliers squad. With everything in place, would Green become greedy and join a team like the Lakers?
The Warriors have not fully secured Green but at the way things are going, the only way the Lakers are getting Green is when he starts looking out for himself. Right now and while the Warriors are winning, Green has no reason to leave. Besides, they are expected to match any offer anyway.
