Kevin's attempt to lend a helping hand backfires in episode 12 of "Kevin (Probably) Saves the World."

On the next episode, titled "Caught White-Handed," Kevin Finn (Jason Ritter) meets an enigmatic do-gooder named Phoebe Powell (Kathleen Wilhoite). He tries to help her raise money for a dog sanctuary. However, his plan backfires when her secret past is brought to light.

Yvette (Kimberly Hébert Gregory) knows Kevin's making the wrong move from the start, and she would try to stop him. But as always with the fantasy drama's protagonist, he barely listens. He pursues his plan only to land himself in jail. "This played out totally different in my mind," he is heard saying in the episode promo.

Meantime, after two episodes of being apart, Tyler (Dustin Ybarra), Kevin's partner-in-crime, finally makes contact with Yvette. The two first met, and flirted, in episode 9, titled "Probably," when the trio went to Laos in search of the first righteous soul.

Since then, Tyler has been trying, but mostly failing, to reach Yvette, although she did send him a letter from Canada at the end of episode 10, "The Ugly Sleep."

Co-creator Michele Fazekas has earlier told Entertainment Weekly that there is so much more to expect from the Tyler-Yvette love story. "Somebody like Tyler is of course going to fall for a celestial being because he's such a pure soul. It makes perfect sense," Fazekas quipped. But falling for a heavenly body has its own interesting problems. "But now this complicates things for Yvette, it complicates things for Kevin, and the more they try and fix it, the worse it gets," Fazekas added.

Still on the next episode, Amy (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) and Deputy Nate's (J. August Richards) love affair has been moving smoothly since Amy took off her wedding ring in episode 9. Nate invites her to his friend's wedding, but their date goes south when he finds out his ex-wife is also attending.

"Kevin (Probably) Saves the World" airs Tuesdays, 10 p.m. EDT, on ABC.
