Justin Timberlake reunited with former boyband NSYNC for the first time during the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25.

The singer was also honored with the Michael Jackson Vanguard Music Award shortly after his performance.

Past recipients of the prestigious award include Michael Jackson, Madonna, R.E.M., and the Beastie Boys. The award was presented by Jimmy Fallon.

"Half of the moon man that I ever won I won with those four guys right there," said Timberlake, pointing to former bandmates of NSYNC. "I want to share this award with them. This is truly an honor. Thank you so much."

Timberlake performed at the VMAs for the first time in six years with a medley of his hit songs and his new song "Back the Night."

Prior to the VMAs, Timberlake tweeted a photo of himself which showed the singer's back leaning on a keyboard with the caption "Calm before the storm."

After the medley performance, the 32-year-old reunited with NSYNC for the first time in ten years in a one-time only performance at the VMAs. Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick have not performed together since the 2003 Grammy Awards.

The boyband came together for a one-time only performance at the VMAs to perform a medley of their hit songs, including all–time favorite "Bye Bye Bye."

Justin Timberlake was nominated for Video of the Year, Best Male Video, Best Pop Video and Best Editing for his single "Mirrors." He was also nominated for Best Direction and Best Collaboration for "Suit & Tie" featuring Jay-Z.

This year's MTV Video Music Awards took place at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn for the first time. Lady Gaga opened the show with "Applause" a song from her upcoming single due to be released in November.
