'Jurassic World 2' spoilers: 'bigger, better dinosaurs' won't be a focus in sequel

Unlike what many people expect, "Jurassic World 2" will not center on bigger dinosaurs. This is what director Juan Antonio Bayona made sure to emphasize during a Jurassic Outpost podcast, where he talked about the sequel.

"I don't think that bigger, better dinosaurs or bigger, more epic-in-scope action sequences are what people are necessarily looking for from this franchise and what they love about it," the filmmaker stated.

This is what Colin Trevorrow, the director of the blockbuster first film and the producer for the sequel, also pointed out last year in another podcast, where he said that "Jurassic World 2" will take things "to the next level," but not in terms of scale.

He said that time that this will be good only as a "starting point" which will pave the way to a "much larger" story about the relationships between humans and the dinosaurs.

Meanwhile, Bayona also teased that "Jurassic World 2" will be full of surprises, adding that the highly anticipated sequel will deliver on "things you really don't expect and it is very exciting."

Trevorrow, who attended the same podcast with Bayona, also stated that "Jurassic World 2" will be different in the sense that it will be "more suspenseful and scary."

"It's just the way it's designed; it's the way the story plays out," Trevorrow said. He believes the film has no problem pulling that off with Bayona at the helm. After all, the filmmaker was the man behind the much-loved Spanish horror film "The Orphanage."

"I knew I wanted Bayona to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skill set," the "Jurassic World 2" producer explained.

"Jurassic World 2" will hit theaters on June 22, 2018. Chris Pratt and Bryce Howard Dallas are both set to reprise their roles.
