John Cena and Nikki Bella news: He admits being terrified to propose

Wrestler-turned-actor John Cena admits he was terrified to propose to partner Nikki Bella.

Cena made a very bold move back in April, when he went down on one knee live in front of 75,000 people at WrestleMania 33.

People thought that was a brave move from the 40-year-old wrestler. But what no one knew was that he was absolutely scared.

In a recent press junket for his upcoming animated film "Ferdinand," the tough actor shared with Yahoo! Be how it really felt to propose to his longtime partner.

"The WWE audience as you know sometimes can be a little excited both positively and negatively. I was worried about that the audience would have a negative reaction to what I did," he said.

Cena's proposal happened just right after he and Bella defeated real-life married couple The Miz and Maryse in a tag team match. In the road to WrestleMania 33, The Miz described the Cena and Bella relationship as fake. "Nikki and John's fabricated lives spits on every real relationship and it stops now," he said.

The couple made them pay by beating them in the ring and getting engaged in one night.

But Cena admitted that he was not sure it was the right atmosphere to propose in. While they had plenty of fans in those 75,000 audience, they have also made a lot of The Miz and Maryse duo mad that night.

"If you go back and you watch that match the one before the proposal they didn't necessarily like me that much and then when they found out I was making one of the boldest moves of my entire life, 75,000 folks showed respect," Cena shared.

He added that he felt humbled by the genuine respect he received from WWE fans that night.

Now the couple are very busy with their wedding preparations. Cena told E! News online earlier this month that he might just get a few dancing lessons from Bella's former "Dancing with the Stars" partner Artem Chigvintsev.
