Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard's pre-marital counselling session with Michelle and Jim Bob: 'Always help a lady with her chair, that's rule number one'

Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar have had 19 children together so it's fair to say they know a thing or two about running a household.

Little wonder when it came to their own daughter flying the nest, they wanted to make sure she was ready.

The latest episode of 19 Kids and Counting reveal Michelle and Jim Bob left nothing to chance, hosting weekly marital counselling sessions with their daughter Jill and their future son-in-law Derick Dillard.

A clip on InTouchWeekly.com showed the four sitting down with a marriage workbook over some frozen yoghurt.

Michelle revealed that the workbook goes through some of the important issues they will face together as a couple, including "intimate" activities.

"I believe it is our responsibility to equip our children to be prepared for that next step in life of marriage," she said.

But it wasn't all serious, as Jim Bob playfully remarked to Derick as they took their seats: "Always help a lady with her chair, that's rule number one."

Thankfully the episode spared everyone's blushes as the topic up for discussion was not any intimate activities but rather financial affairs and debt.

It's not the most exciting of topics, but Jill and Derick looked fully engaged - and very much in love, holding hands during the counselling session.

"I think my parents have done a really good job of teaching us kids by example of ... cutting costs where you can," said Jill.

With so many kids under one roof, Michelle and Jim Bob no doubt have a few tips up their sleeve in that department.

The clip ends with Michelle speaking warmly about the couple, who tied the knot back in June: "I think they're ready."

Jill told People Magazine at the time that they were taking their vows seriously - they even held off on their first kiss until their wedding day.

"We want to think about the importance of marriage.  And what it means to be married," she said prior to marrying.

They are already expecting their first child and a second Duggar family wedding is just weeks away, when Jessa Duggar will walk down the aisle to Ben Seewald on November 1.

Like Jill and Derick, Jessa and Ben have also decided to wait until their wedding for their first kiss.
