Soon to be NBA Free Agent may be in a hole right now but not after being included in the Forbes' List of top 100 highest paid athletes in 2015.

Apparently a large part of that was made possible with the contract he signed with the Houston Rockets back in the 2012-13 NBA season. Lin signed a $25 million deal though the last year of that three-year deal was accounted for by the Los Angeles Lakers.

In his final year, Lin reeled in $14, 898,938 million from the Lakers. That plus $4 million endorsement deals with Adidas and Tag Heuer totaled close to $18.9 million for the first Asian-American to play in the NBA.

With that total, Lin was ranked 97th in the Forbest' list of top 100 highest paid athletes for 2015. He is tied with baseball player Max Scherzer and Maurice Pouncey (football).

Back to reality, Lin still has no idea where he would be playing next season. However, Lin is not expected to get the same salary ($14 million) on whichever team he could be joining.

The word out the past days that two teams were keenly interested in the Harvard standout, teams in need of a point guard.

The Dallas Mavericks are said to be interested in Lin, especially if Monta Ellis opt out of his contract. Another Mavs guard, Rajon Rondo is not expected to return which opens up a possible slot for Lin.

Another possible destination was the Denver Nuggets. That would however depend on the fate of Ty Lawson and the decision of new head coach Michael Malone.

The initial belief was had Mike D' Antoni been chosen as the new head coach, Lin would have been a cinch to make the lineup, a reunion of sorts since both were together with the New York Knicks before.
