Jay Z's Tidal offers free 12-day trial without credit card; hi-fi streaming and exclusive artist interviews available

Those who want to try Jay-Z's high-fidelity music streaming service Tidal but do not have (or refuse to use) a credit card may have the chance this holiday season. A free trial for the streaming service will be open for 12 days starting on Christmas day.

As mentioned, this Christmas trial will be different from the regular 30-day trial because it does not require a credit card. The trial is unrestricted too, which means anyone interested can listen to the Tidal's whole catalog of hi-fi tracks.

As an added bonus, Tidal will also feature new series just in time for those who want to take advantage of the trial. This includes "Fresh Cuts," a program where artists discuss their music and personal goals, all while getting a haircut. There is also a program called "Rough Draft," where rappers will discuss and perform the very first rap verse they wrote.

A documentary featuring Snoh Aalegra and Trombone Shorty will also be streamed. All in all, a total of four new programs will be coming to Tidal. In addition to these, the streaming service will also release two playlists meant to get users into the New Year spirit. The first one will be released on New Year's Eve, and the second one will be released on New Year's Day.

Tidal also had updates on the technical side that may make the streaming service more convenient to use. The service was recently made to be compatible with Apple and Android TV, and it also now supports CarPlay for iOS. The streaming service can now interact directly with Sonos speakers, as well.

Granted, the 12-day trial is significantly shorter than the basic 30-day trial that Tidal offers. However, the fact that it is free and requires no credit could be enough incentive to those wanting to use the service. In comparison, Spotify's three-month trial costs $0.99.
