It looks like "Jane the Virgin" season 3 will not be gracious to Xo (Andrea Navedo). Justina Machado has just been added to the show, and her character will be bad news to the aspiring singer.
The "Six Feet Under" star will play the role of Darcy Factor, an "all-business brassy, formidable and likes-to-be-in-control matchmaker," as per her character description picked up by Deadline.
Darcy runs a dating service, where Rogelio (Jamie Camil) will try his luck on, come "Jane the Virgin" season 3, in the hopes of concluding his search for Mrs. Right.
Machado's character is "very protective" of her female patrons and is serious about her rules, which, to no one's surprise, were all broken by Rogelio.
Despite this, Darcy appears to have a soft spot for the guy and continues to help the telenovela actor find his match. This leads to a "surprising proposition" from the matchmaker.
Whether or not this has something to do with Darcy getting together with Rogelio remains to be seen, but it looks like she will be a big part of this story arc for "Jane the Virgin" season 3.
Her addition certainly suggests that the new season will not see Rogelio and Xo kiss and make up. Much like their daughter Jane (Gina Rodriguez), both are not lucky in love come season 3.
However, where Jane is having problems, her parents seem to at least find luck at. Rogelio looks like he will have someone to hold come "Jane the Virgin" season 3, while Xo gets a chance to realize her dream to be a singer by scoring an audition on "The Voice."
Needless to say, Jane will be doing badly on both aspects in "Jane the Virgin" season 3 as she watches her husband Michael (Brett Dier) fight for his life after being shot.
On top of that, she has to deal with the return of an old flame and a new boss with the vibe of Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly from "Devil Wears Prada" to be played by Kelly Rutherford.
"Jane the Virgin" season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 17, at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
