'iZombie' season 3 spoilers: blast from the past for Liv next season

A promotional still featuring the characters Liv and Drake from "iZombie" The CW

"iZombie" season 3 will bring back someone from Liv's (Rose McIver) past. Her dead boyfriend Drake (Greg Finley) will appear in the series once more but not in the way that fans expect.

As a refresher, Drake died in the season 2 finale at the hands of Liv herself in order to save Clive (Malcolm Goodwin). Liv, in no way, took pleasure in doing so.

She definitely has not gotten past that yet, and it will be more difficult for her in "iZombie" season 3 when she eats a brain of a mentally-disturbed man who is haunted by his wife who died in a car accident he was responsible for.

Because of that, Liv herself will be confronted by the past, which will force her to recall the day she took Drake's life. All this will happen in episode 10 of "iZombie" season 3.

That being said, fans will not see Drake brought back to life but only as a figment of Liv's imagination as she goes through the feeling of guilt heightened by the brains of the man who suffers such fate. From the looks of it, though, he will only be back for one episode.

As for a more tangible development on Liv's romantic life, it was revealed before that she will get together with someone new in "iZombie" season 3, but there's good news and bad news about it.

The new guy in Liv's life will not share the same tragic fate as her past boyfriends, but the relationship is not going to last.

"Liv will have a love interest this year who does not die," executive producer Rob Thomas teased to TV Line. "Whoever that is, the relationship won't end because of death," he went on to say.

"iZombie" season 3 is currently in production and should premiere early next year on The CW.
