Customers who pre-ordered iPhone X reportedly saw improvements on their delivery date.
When pre-orders for the year's most-awaited phone went live on Friday, some people who placed their orders as soon as it opened received shipping estimates of up to two weeks. Now, Mac Rumors and several Reddit users reported that their delivery dates have been upgraded to Nov. 3.
This, however, is only for customers who got to place their orders within 15 minutes of the pre-order going live. After which, Apple has said the available supply of iPhone X became sold out. Those who were not lucky got an estimated delivery of five to six weeks, but it looks like Apple is also working hard to shorten the lead time.
In an official statement, Apple said that the customer demand for iPhone X is "off the charts."
"We're working hard to get this revolutionary new product into the hands of every customer who wants one, as quickly as possible," the phone company added.
Analysts have already predicted a slow production for the groundbreaking phone, considering its very intricate facial identification feature. A sensor like that would have been easily possible for big gadgets like the Kinect, but doing it on a 5.8-inch phone that is only a few millimeters deep could take a while.
Last week, Bloomberg reported that Apple secretly ordered its manufacturers to reduce the Face ID's accuracy to speed up production of the iPhone X. Apple has since denied the report.
"It continues to be 1 in a million probability of a random person unlocking your iPhone with Face ID... We expect Face ID to be the new gold standard for facial authentication," said Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller.
Those who missed the opportunity to pre-order an iPhone X still have a slim chance of getting one on launch day. iPhone X will be available in Apple stores across 55 countries on Nov. 3, 8 a.m. local time.
