iPhone 8 release date, news: ceramics to feature in upcoming device?

If Apple wants to stand out from the pack with the iPhone 8, rumor has it that the only way for that to be possible is to go ceramic.

The Verge says that the Cupertino-based tech firm should once again change it up for its next flagship when it comes to the upgrades. After all, the iPhone 8 will mark the 10th anniversary of the mega-popular smartphone line.

To do so, the site believes that it should use of ceramic material for the build of the iPhone 8. Apple has taken the first step to do so by using white ceramic for the casing of the Apple Watch.

For the 10th anniversary of the smartphone, Apple could offer a limited edition ceramic iPhone 8. Since it will be limited in supply, the company will not have to worry about mass producing them.

As explained in detail by alchemist and metaphysician Brian Roemmele, using ceramics — Zirconian ceramics in particular — on the iPhone 8 will make it an ultra durable device.

There will be no scratch issues, so the device will be unscathed. The toughness level of the material is top-notch, promising a heavyweight of a smartphone.

It will also give the iPhone 8 a tasteful look and design, with The Verge envisioning it as a work of art. This beauty will not be easily tainted with the ceramics keeping the device in tip top shape.

Roemmele said that Apple may have "reached the limit" in stretching the potentials of the Aluminum and that the company has actually outlined its future with the use of ceramics.

Proof of this is a patent called titled "Co-Molded Ceramic and Polymer Structure" applied at the USPTO back in August last year but was made public a day after the iPhone 7 was launched.

The patent shows that Apple is looking at ceramics as a way to make its future products, like the iPhone 8, scratch-resistant and lightweight.

With all that said, it appears that the iPhone 8 will get some serious design makeover.
