iPhone 7 release date rumors: device may lose home button; Plus variant could abandon dual-camera setup

The iPhone 7 is highly speculated to arrive with many new features that make its fans even more excited. However, the latest information circulating on the web may give disappointment to some. It is said the upcoming smartphone will not have a home button anymore, plus the Dual Camera setup for the iPhone 7 Plus will not push through.

MobiPicker previously reported that a leaked photo of the alleged iPhone 7 shows that the home button is not a button anymore but a redesigned touch-sensitive area.  This will allow its user do tapping actions for different functions, like press and hold or a double-tap action.

Several reports also mentioned that there are multiple reasons why Apple replaced its home button. First, it is about durability. Many acknowledged that a moving part is more prone to breakage than a non-moving part. These home buttons do fail and are oftentimes replaced during repairs. The second reason is water-proofing. Moving parts create spaces and gap, where water can squeeze right in. The third reason is the MacBook has it already. The touchpad on Apple laptops have no left or right buttons anymore. It has been replaced by a touch-sensitive surface and uses haptic feedback to let its user know if an action was created.

It was rumored before that the iPhone 7 Plus will contain a Dual Camera system and is considered to be the one of the best features of the bigger version. Now it is being reported that the current design makes it hard to incorporate the feature, thus, it is rumored not to be included anymore in this year's model, Cult of Mac reported.

Indian Express has a contrary report about the upcoming iPhone 7.  It said that the still-unannounced phone will only contain minor upgrades and not all the hype circulated on the internet. It also mentioned that the iPhone 8 or the 2017 iPhone model will be the one to have a major design revamp that will include a curved AMOLED display screen, glass case, better camera and wireless charging.

Apple iPhone 7 is highly speculated to arrive in September of this year.
