Rumor has it that whatever the next iPhone will be, either the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 6s, Apple will make it the subject of its biggest production yet. According to a report by Wall Street Journal, the Cupertino tech titan is aiming to manufacture 90 million units of the smartphone, which many believe to be the 6s.
This will add 15 million units more than what the company ordered for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, its most successful iPhone iteration yet, and will set a new record for the company. This speaks volumes as to how confident Apple is about the phone.
According to reports, Apple has been ramping up the workforce in its factories and suppliers in preparation for the coming of the iPhone 6s and, presumably, the iPhone 6s Plus. Wall Street Journal says that the towering order for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6s and 5.5-inch iPhone 6s Plus will be ready by Dec. 31.
A previous Bloomberg report says Apple has already started production last June 28, but WSJ is reporting that Foxconn, Apple's primary supplier, expects that production won't begin until next month with Taiwan-based manufacturer Wistron Corp, which assisted Apple in producing the iPhone 5c units, helping out.
Among these whopping 90 million units will be the 16 GB varient, which, according to Forbes, will still serve as the entry level iPhone. Apple senior vice president Phil Schiller reportedly said that the iCloud would provide more room for users who will stick with this model.
The iPhone 6s and its bigger kin are expected to come with Force Touch, the most talked about feature that debuted in the Apple Watch and was later integrated to the new MacBook. The feature, which responds with differing functions depending on the pressure of the touch, is said to be the major selling point for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
