iOS 9 release at WWDC: Apple works on bug fixes for roll out

The release of Apple's iOS 9 is speculated to take place at the upcoming Worldwide Developers' Conference in June. The operating system was spotted in the past few weeks, strongly suggesting its imminent release.

Latest reports claim that Apple's next generation operating system will lack major updates this year and will put emphasis on bug fixes, stability issues and overall improvement on the OS' performance.

For the past years, Apple has been releasing big updates on its operating system. iOS 6 was announced packed with virtual assistant Siri. iOS 7 was released with a new look replacing the creative designs of the icons. Last year, the world was taken by surprise by the inclusion of ApplePay and TouchID support in iOS 8.

This year, rumors are saying that Apple will let go of enormous changes in the software. Instead, it is believed to be working on optimizing the firmware to work in low end devices. This hints that Apple is mulling on the possibility of releasing mid-range devices in the future like the rumored iPhone 6S coming this year.

Leaks are suggesting that iOS 9 is in the midst of testing before its official roll out. Tech website GSMArena reported that the software appeared in a benchmark listing on the Basemark OS II database and the results include a web score that is 17 percent higher than the current iOS 8.

Nothing is solid about the iOS 9 features yet as developers are still reportedly working on and perfecting the capabilities and functions of the operating system. However, there are predictions that Apple will open ApplePay to app developers similar to what it did with the TouchID fingerprint sensor, expanding its functions.

If Apple is on track with its progress and if rumors prove to be true, iOS 9 will be introduced at the WWDC 2015 alongside new Apple devices, although nothing is official yet until Apple says so.
