iOS 8 jailbreak: Latest iOS jailbreak released by developers, Cydia tools for iOS devices

iOS 8 software

The long wait for the iOS 8 jailbreak is finally over, as Pangu released its tool to jailbreak iOS 8 and iOS 8.1 untethered in most Apple devices.

Pangu's 1.0.1 tool for jailbreaking the latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, as well as last-generation's product line such as the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s, all iPad variants, and the iPod Touch 5 had been released. However, the Cydia and the Cydia substrate were not included in Pangu's tool, yet it can be downloaded separately as developer Saurik came out with the update earlier today.

Before today's update, Saurik offered instructions for the proper downloading of Cydia update for iOS 8.

It said: "I've given a new version of Cydia Installer in the form of a standard jailbreak bootstrap for inclusion in a new version of their jailbreak. I've also pushed the .deb of the iOS 8 version of Cydia to apt.saurik.com for manual download, but not yet to my repository. A lot of thanks goes out to limneos, who tested the new build for me, as I was at an airport (and now am frantically typing this message while they figure out how to retract the jetbridge from the plane I'm on that is about to take off)."

Since Cydia is allowed to be installed in Apple devices, the units can now accept a lot of programs and tweaks that can be used to download different apps that have been restricted by iOS. Some of them include those that are only allowed to be downloaded by Android users.

The much awaited iOS 8 jailbreak was first unveiled by the Chinese developer team Pangu in September, immediately after the Sept. 9 release date of Apple's latest flagship phones and its newest iOS software.

The Pangu jailbreak, however, is only compatible with Windows computers as of the moment. There are no news yet about the release date for the jailbreak version that is compatible with the OS X.
