Two guest characters are coming to "Injustice 2," and NetherRealms Studios creative director Ed Boon had the fans determine who they will be through a Twitter survey.

Boon asked players to choose which combatant from the "Mortal Kombat" and another from a completely different universe will be included in the game.

More than half of the voters chose Sub-Zero as the "Mortal Kombat" representative in "Injustice 2." In the original — "Injustice: Gods Among Us" — it was Scorpion who was added as a guest character.

Sub-Zero won by landslide as 52 percent of the voters (that's almost 20,000) picked him to be the playable character in the DC fighting game. The other choices were Johnny Cage (23 percent), Raiden (20 percent), and Jax (5 percent).

For the non-MK character, Boon had fans choose among four characters from various worlds. First is the demon Hellboy from Dark Horse Comics, who is deemed the world's greatest paranormal investigator with superhuman strength. Another is Terminator, a cyborg assassin played on the big screen by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The third option for the "Injustice 2" guest character was Buffy, the vampire slayer, first played by Sarah Michelle Gellar in the 1992 film of the same name. The final pick, who was also chosen by fans, is Spawn, an anti-hero created by Todd McFarlane for Image Comics. He racked up 45 percent of the votes. Hellboy is second at 21 percent, then Buffy at 19 percent and Terminator with 15 percent of the votes.

Boon teased that there is a chance that Hellboy will make it to "Injustice 2" even though he placed second.

The NetherRealms creative director also teased that there will be more DC characters to be added in "Injustice 2," and the members of the roster will have new moves. He was also asked about new Flash villain GodSpeed.

Boon also answered some questions about their release plans for "Injustice 2," including the locations it will be available and whether or not a demo will be held.

"Injustice 2" will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017 and will eventually be available on Android and iOS.
