iMac 2016 release date, specs Desktop to clash with Microsoft's Surface PC next month

The iMac 2016 is expected to be launched along with new Mac products from Apple in an event intended for the said devices scheduled next month.

This is why the desktop computer and other purported Mac offerings, including a new MacBook Pro, was not in the Sept. 7 keynote event of the company.

Last year, Apple decided to do away with an October launch. Events set for this month are usually intended for iPad Air and iPad mini releases.

Instead, the Cupertino-based company rolled last year's iPhone 6s reveal and iPad announcements all in one September event. Since iPhone 7 is a full-on successor, this could have been why Apple wanted the latest keynote event centered on the flagship.

For fans of the desktop and laptop department of the company, an iMac 2016 and a MacBook Pro update is as big of a deal as the headphone jack-less smartphone.

That being said, it is highly likely that Apple will wait for October to unveil the iMac 2016 to the world. Bloomberg also claims that next month will be the time for Mac products to shine and that they were never scheduled for Sept. 7.

As for the specs, the publication suggested that the new iMac will offer the option for AMD or Advanced Micro Devices Inc video cards.

The iMac 2016 will likely end up with the newly released RX 400 graphics cards. In the past couple of months, AMD has introduced the RX 460, 470 and 480, all of which could take the power and performance of the desktop to the next level.

If the new iMac will be released next month, it is likely that it will go toe to toe with Microsoft's first ever Surface All-in-One PC, which will headline the Redmond-based company's launch event for next month.
