iMac 2016 release date: Desktop to make an appearance this month?

More and more reports continue to point to an Apple launch event set this month. The Cupertino-based company is expected to unveil its new set of Mac products this October including the iMac 2016.

A new report by Macrumors suggests that this particular affair will take place late October, although the publication puts an emphasis on the MacBook Pro being front and center.

Macrumors has no word if the new MacBook Pro will be accompanied by the iMac 2016, which is expected to be released this year as well, as reported by Bloomberg.

Apple has already launched some of its new offerings through a press release. Whether or not this will be its approach in bringing out its new desktop computer remains to be seen.

It is understandable that the MacBook Pro will be the star of the event since it has been four years since it was updated, and big upgrades are expected to be implemented.

Meanwhile, IHS Markit Technology director for tablet and notebook PCs Rhoda Alexander also claims new Macs will be released this month.

Speaking to Forbes, the analyst said that the new iterations of the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air will be released this month. The iMac 2016 once again goes unmentioned here.

It is unknown if this is because the desktop will be released at a later date, but the lack of references to it in the reports certainly suggests this possibility.

However, Bloomberg has already said that the iMac 2016 is also set for release this month. The only question now is if it will come with the new MacBooks or will be unveiled separately, which might strike as odd to some.

After all, a 5K standalone display is also expected to debut this month. Apple developed the product along with LG Electronics.

As for the specs of the new iMac, it is reported that it will come with a version that houses an AMD Polaris 10 graphics card.
